Virginia Tech (VT) started out as a small college in 1872 and has grown to have the highest number of full time students than any other college in Virginia. Virginia Tech offers 60 Bachelors programs as well as 140 Master's and Doctorate programs. The success and growth that VT is experiencing is directly related to the hard work and dedication of the students, faculty, and staff who have chosen VT as the vehicle for the future.

The advances in technology have also made it possible for Virginia Tech to offer online classes. People all over the country are taking advantage of online college classes. As the country faces our long going economic crisis, the ability of many people to walk away from their jobs and commit to a four year college or university is almost non-existent. The implementation of online classes allows someone on the west coast that dreams of getting a degree with Virginia Tech to become a reality.

VT is not just a college that offers great academic programs both online and through the land campus but also offers great social clubs, sports, research facilities, library access, and an alumni program that remains loyal years after graduation. People catch the Hokie Spirit and carry it with them forever. This can be seen throughout all 16 of our offered sports programs include, football, baseball, men and women's basketball, golf, lacrosse, and many others. Virginia Tech Alumni show up for pep rallies, tailgate parties, and dedications or memorials. The pride of Virginia Tech alumni will remain the envy of those people that will never get to experience it.

Virginia Tech is more than just a college; VT is a complete learning and activity center. Academics and extracurricular activities are important but VT also offers people the opportunity to meet and work with people from all over the world. VT has a large population of people that represent many different cultures. This diversity allows everyone to learn about the similarities and differences of people from other parts of the world. An important aspect regarding the differences in the people is that once you become a Hokie everyone is the same. Every student at VT is not only representing themselves but they are representing Hokie Nation. There is no pride that can be felt like the pride felt by a Hokie!
